Osaka is the second largest metropolitan area following Tokyo in Japan. It has been the economic powerhouse of the western Japan for many centuries. It is located within only a few hours Shinkansen (bullet train) ride from Tokyo. This vibrant city offers exciting nightlife, delicious local food, a lot of shopping and modern attractions. Osaka also has a historical side, the highlight of which is Osaka Castle constructed in the 16th century. Due to its proximity to popular tourist destinations, Kyoto and Nara, Osaka also attracts more than 10 million foreign travelers annually.
